Chief Flight Instructor Jonathan Amundsen

Flight Instructor Jonathan Amundsen

"I love flying and have to share that experience with as many people as possible. The freedom of flight is something everyone should get to enjoy"

Gold Seal Flight Instructor

Ratings: A&P, IA, CFI, CFII, MEI, SES, MES, Tailwheel, Glider-Commercial, AGI, IGI, Instrument, Gold-Seal Instructor, CATS Proctor, Chief Flight Instructor.

Starting at age 2, Jonathan lived in the aviation world.

Flight Mechanic Jonathan Amundsen

He spent most of his time, growing up, at the airport where his father was the airport manager.

Jonathan soloed in an Aeronca Champ on his 16th birthday and got his private pilots license on his 17th birthday. He started college at 16 and earned his A&P Certificate (Associates Degree) at age 18 from Southwestern Michigan College, remaining on the Dean's List every quarter.

Jonathan has worked in several aspects of aviation, everything from line service to Director of Operations.

He is now an FAA Certified Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor with ratings in single and multi-engine land and seaplanes.

Jonathan has 7000+ flight hours and has flown everything from Piper Cubs to small jets.

Jon in Stearman Kaydet

His one true love (besides Liz) is for antique aircraft, like his Stearman Kaydet, from the golden age of flying, in the 30s and 40s.

He and his wife, Liz Amundsen, lovingly restored their 1940 Stearman Kaydet and now allow others to enjoy the historic age of flying by offering Stearman Rides.

His students benefit from his fun-loving personality and his love of teaching the skill of flying.

Since he learned the "old school" art of piloting aircraft, he truly loves teaching tailwheels and multi-engine students.

He brings a wealth of aviation knowledge to his students and to our flight school.

Though aviation is his passion, he also loves restoring old Corvettes, playing the guitar and is an avid RC Airplane enthusiast.
