Eric started flying in June 2004 after touring Embry Riddle Aeronautical University's engineering program.
His original interest in designing aircraft turned into a passion for flying aircraft after going on a discovery flight in one of the university's aircraft.
He immediately decided to pursue a Private Pilot certification in Lexington, KY.
During his senior year in high school, he passed his Private Pilot checkride and was also accepted to Middle Tennessee State University. He went on to attend MTSU's Professional Pilot program, where he attained his Instrument, Commercial, and Multi-engine rating.
He was on the university's Precision Flight Team for 5 years, 2 years as the team Captain, and 1 year as assistant coach, where he led the team in a variety of flight competitions against other universities at regional and national competitions.
While still in college, he attained his CFI, CFII, and MEI and joined the Air National Guard. He graduated top of his class in C-130 technical training school, where he became a Crew Chief on WC-130 "Super E" and C-130H2 aircraft.
He went on to graduate from MTSU with a B.S. in Aerospace Science in 2010, and continued serving in the Air National Guard as a C-130 Crew Chief while flight instructing as a civilian.
After 2 years of flight instruction and flying as a "Lifeguard" pilot, Eric was type rated in the Short 330 & 360 aircraft, where he flew UPS freight for a year.
After being furloughed, he left the cargo business and came back to instructing students.
In 2012 he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and the following December, he was honorably discharged from the Guard, after 6 years of service.
He is currently a seaplane instructor at Jack Brown's Seaplane Base and a land based instructor with Tailwheels Etc.
Currently, he is finishing his ATP and A&P certifications.
His long term plans are to start his own seaplane technology company with an emphasis on float design and STC's, but he eventually plans to create his own Christian mission organization, using seaplanes.
Eric is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He loves SCUBA diving, and is currently working towards his full cave diving certification. He plays Disc Golf semi-professionally, and also enjoys trail running, wakeboarding, and mountain biking in his free time.
An Eagle Scout himself, he is a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of the Seaplane Pilots Association, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association as well.
He is a "re-born" Christian, and enjoys spending time studying the Bible and sharing in fellowship with his friends and family.
