Flight Instructor - Marty Calano

Marty Calano lived his formative years in New England and attended the University of Connecticut, majoring in agriculture.
Marty graduated from East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford, Mass. as a Master Mechanic (A&P) in aviation maintenance technology.
He has worked for Piper Aircraft, Diamond Aircraft, and Commander Aircraft.
Marty has taught for American Flyers, Dean International, Pelican Flight training, and other local flight schools.
He got his ATP, then, starting in 1990, his CFI ,CFII, MEI, AGI, and IGI.
“I was lucky enough to have an airplane I used for business to get the time required for my ATP".
I then asked myself, ‘now what?’. That’s when I decided to try my hand at teaching. I love to teach and watch ‘the light come on.
Marty has owned several airplanes, including a Piper Archer, Piper Aztec, Cessna 414, a Beech Sierra, and the (second) love of his life, a Beechcraft Baron.
In addition to his instructor ratings, Marty also holds a private pilot helicopter ticket and a commercial pilot SEL.
Marty is married to his wife Barbara, has 2 children, Cory and Scott, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. (He says he started very young.)
In addition to spending most of his time teaching, he enjoys hunting and an occasional fishing trip.
